Girl Ultra's forthcoming album, ‘RRRomeo’, out on Big Dada was co-produced with the legendary funk duo Chromeo. The record is described as her most direct and ambitious work to date, boasting collaborations with Buscabulla, Empress Of, Jean Tonique, and Chromeo themselves.

Long before ‘RRRomeo’ took shape, Girl Ultra was a music-obsessed teenager absorbing Mexico City’s nightlife, radio culture and deep nostalgia for past sounds. Immersed in a city where dance floors became classrooms and genres coexisted without hierarchy, she grew up with Latin Rock and 80s pop anthems on the radio while saving money to experience live acts like Chromeo and Bloc Party.

At its core, ‘RRRomeo’ is an album about romance as rebellion. Its songs address real and fictionalized figures from Girl Ultra’s life, transforming memory, lust, friendship, heartbreak, and intimacy into scenes that feel both personal and mythic. Rather than recreating the past, Girl Ultra uses her personal musical history as raw material for reinvention, embracing contradiction and experimentation while claiming a new level of authorship. “Girl Ultra can be whatever I choose it to be at the moment,” she says.
