Itinerary:
Day 1: Depart Australia or New Zealand to Ho Chi Minh City. Fly to Vietnam's most cosmopolitan city and transfer to your hotel, with the rest of the day free to settle in.
Day 2: Cu Chi Tunnels Tour. Journey to the Cu Chi Tunnels and explore the vast underground network built during the fight for independence. Return to Ho Chi Minh City with the afternoon at leisure.
Day 3: Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang to Hoi An. Fly to Da Nang and drive to the ancient coastal town of Hoi An, then set off on a guided walking tour of the UNESCO listed old town. Visit the Japanese Covered Bridge, central market and historic assembly halls.
Day 4: Hoi An Free Day. Enjoy a free day at leisure in Hoi An, or join an optional tour to Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge.
Day 5: Hoi An Free Day. Spend another free day exploring Hoi An at your own pace. Optional tours include the My Son World Heritage site and a local market and cooking class.
Day 6: Hoi An to Da Nang to Hanoi. Fly north to Hanoi and check in, then join a walking tour of local life around West Lake, visiting a market, a Taoist temple and a historic church.
Day 7: Hanoi to Ha Long Bay. Travel to Ha Long Bay and board a traditional junk vessel for an overnight cruise among the limestone karsts. Enjoy swimming, a pearl farm visit and dinner on board.
Day 8: Ha Long Bay to Hanoi. Visit Sung Sot Cave before cruising back to port and returning to Hanoi. The evening is free, or join an optional water puppet show and dinner.
Day 9: Depart Hanoi. Transfer to Hanoi airport for your onward flight home, with luggage storage available for later departures.
Day 10: Arrive in Australia or New Zealand. Arrive home, bringing your Vietnam journey to a close.
