Treasures of Jordan is a 12 day guided journey through one of the Middle East's most storied landscapes. Float in the mineral rich waters of the Dead Sea, wander the rose red canyons of Petra and ride a 4x4 across the dunes of Wadi Rum before sleeping under the desert stars. Along the way you will stand on Mount Nebo, walk the Roman colonnades of Jerash and taste traditional Jordanian cooking. Itinerary:
Day 1: Australia to Amman, Jordan. Depart Australia or New Zealand on your international flight bound for Amman, with meals served in flight.
Day 2: Welcome to Amman and the Dead Sea. Arrive and transfer to your hotel beside the Dead Sea, where dinner is included on your first evening.
Day 3: Dead Sea free day. Spend the day at leisure floating in the hypersaline water and relaxing with the mineral rich mud at the lowest point on dry land.
Day 4: Amman walking city tour. Enjoy a guided tour of the hilltop Citadel and Umayyad Palace, then explore the Roman theatre and colourful souq while tasting local Habibah Kunafah sweets.
Day 5: Amman, Umm Qais and Jerash. Tour the Roman ruins of Umm Qais with views over the Sea of Galilee, then continue to Jerash to walk its remarkably preserved Greco Roman colonnades.
Day 6: Amman, Mount Nebo and Madaba. Visit Mount Nebo where Moses viewed the Promised Land and see the ancient mosaic map in Madaba, then join a cooking class before returning to Amman.
Day 7: Amman to Petra. Travel south to Petra, stopping at the Crusader era Karak and Shobak Castles, St Lot's Cave and the Museum of the Lowest Point on Earth.
Day 8: Petra walking city tour. Explore the Lost City of Petra, walking the Siq to the iconic Treasury and Royal Tombs, with an optional Petra by Night candlelit experience.
Day 9: Petra, Little Petra and Wadi Rum. Stop at Little Petra before entering the Wadi Rum desert, then enjoy a 4x4 tour across the red dunes and dine under the stars at a desert camp.
Day 10: Wadi Rum, Aqaba and Amman. Drive to the Red Sea city of Aqaba to explore its fort and waterfront, then continue on to Amman for your final overnight stay.
Day 11: Amman to Australia. Transfer to the airport for your return international flight, with meals served in flight.
Day 12: Arrive home. Land back in Australia or New Zealand, some flights arriving a day later. Welcome home.
